AmuNation AMA Recap (13th September 2022)


On the 13th of September, we took part in our bi-weekly AMA with the AmuNation (our community). Due to the large growth of our community, the voice channel became too difficult to manage and therefore we launched the AmuNation AMA Stage 🎤 on our Discord server.

This turns our AMA’s into more of an event. Check out this screenshot when we tried to welcome one of our community members to the stage to ask their question.

To a record attendance, we answered a variety of questions. We had some issues so we apologise for the quality of the audio but, as always, we’ve turned the audio and the transcript into a blog post for your reference.

Okay, cool. All looks good and we’ve literally within the second beaten our last record attendance so that’s positive. Okay cool so like I said, I don’t know if any of you got a chance to see what I sent, we structured it as we are now in an excellent position where we get to many questions. Jimmy is a bit unwell as he has a bit of tonsillitis, which I definitely will sympathise with of how I felt the last AMA So what I’ll do is, there’s a bit of structure to it, we’ve should all have sections. And to start off, I’m going to ask if we can all just introduce ourselves just in case there’s anyone new within such a growing community, I would expect that people who aren’t sure who we are as individuals. So I’ll start first. I’m Rob, and I’m doing the marketing. So all the content you see written my previous experience is in web3 and also web2. I have been marketing in various ways and also not necessarily the most ethical ways, not ethical ways. That’s not the word that I wanted to say. When some things against what everyone else does. But definitely I do every market ethically, just sometimes tactics can be outside of the box. And I think that’s probably due to working as well within the legal sector and within the sales sector for so long. I’ll pass you over to the project lead Rupert to introduce himself.

Hi, guys. I’m Rupert. I, serial entrepreneur for many, many years now, most recently, though, built a FinTech called Pink, which exited out of last year before joining the team here at amulet and taking it forward and building out raising capital, making sure we we build the biggest best couple protocol in the world.

And should we introduce Jimmy just to make life a bit easier for him?

Yeah, I’ll do the talking for him. He gets to hear my voice a lot. Anyway, Jimmy is a rockstar actuary, based over in Toronto previously worked for many luminaries such as Deutsche Bank, and Tyler Willis, and does everything for us own product and actually how we develop out the the insurance offerings and all cover offerings that we are working on.

Awesome. And Shin, are you okay to introduce yourself?

Yeah, Shin here, the tech guy behind me that have been working in firewall for quite a long time. And also in the IT security space. Cool. Yep. So basically, I mean, for for all the other tests, if you see, eventually, I mean, more to come. So you will be due by the referrals to tactic.

Awesome. Thanks for that. And our newest member of the team Martin, can you give a quick introduction to yourself?

Martin/Pinto – Amulet  
Yeah, for sure. Hello, everyone. Working in amulet, as you probably most most of you guys know, on our community, just working with our mods and, and community champions just to be able to support you and deliver all of the all of the project expectations just to make sure that you guys can ask all of the questions get right to support from from me or from rest of the team and resolve of any of the potential issues as my background, working many years in the in the in the companies like Coca Cola and before Xerox and then I move to the Solana at the very beginning, then maybe some of you probably saw me on some of the projects in the past helping to build the community. And I’m the first point of contact for you guys, if you have any ideas and issues or, or any questions, or

Rob – Amulet 
awesome thanks for that. I think the first question we had was still team based. We’ve got two questions here. The first one i’ll answer because people have asked about the office and where we are based, We are actually a fully remote team. So we covered, the five of us are covered across three continents, which is quite impressive. And so we have Shin in East Asia. We’ve got Jimmy who’s in Canada, and then your three Europeans. So I’m British, but I live in Spain. Rupert’s also British, but he’s moved to Portugal very, very recently. So this week, he’s been at NEARcon, which is a big event over there in Lisbon at the moment. And Martin lives in the UK, and I can’t remember where you from originally.

Yeah, no, I always think it’s, it’s, it’s a great, it’s great, because not only are we a remote team, but we’ve got we’ve also, you know, you’ve got at least the three of us there that don’t live in the country who were born. And so I think we really understand, I think that’s really important when you’re looking at a real global project like ourselves. The second question about the team, I’m going to direct to Shin because he’s in charge with the tech, it’s really how many developers are you in charge of, and that would be front end and back end, just if you want to give a bit of a lowdown?

Shin – Amulet 
Currently, we have four developers, five, including me. So basically, we will have one front end, one that can tend to full stack, me will be like doing this filler job or for the reason remain. So there will be about the tech team.

Rob – Amulet 
Awesome. Thanks very much for that. I know a few people are interested in that. So it’s good that we I don’t think we’ve ever covered that on an AMA before. So it’s good to it’s good that you gave us that information. Cool. So the second part, we’re moving on to what a lot of people here will be very interested in. Which is, which is the ammunition app? So I’m going to ask the questions, I picked four here that should really cope with all of it. One, I’m going to head straight to Martin to explain the situation. A few people have had this, but there is a real good reason for this. It’s why can’t Why are some people having difficulty to log into their accounts at the moment?

Martin/Pinto – Amulet 
Yeah, this question actually has been asked many times on our service, and it’s a great opportunity to to share more details with with the wider audience. As you probably probably know, we have a large number of users in combination, which is absolutely great. And some of the users in trying to do some of the tasks or more than they should, or using some different accounts. And what it’s a key for us to make sure that every single user in our community have exactly the same chance to get the points to complete the task. And to get the rewards from it, then we have our multiple ways of protecting the users. By by spanning four blocks, we did notice some of those solutions has been used on our nomination than we doing our daily daily, just to make sure we will all check all of the outcomes. Unfortunately, as you probably know, any of the processes are not 100% accurate, then occasionally we have some users who will be picking it up as a bot activity. And in reality, they are not. Which, as I said, we’ve done our best to make sure that we avoid those situations. But if you have, if you experienced that kind of that kind of situation, please let me know, send me a DM or any of our community champions or moderator and we’ll pass this to to our devs. Don’t worry, your points are not reset, or your account is not deleted. It’s just temporarily suspended to allow us to do a further investigation. And as I said, this is this is just to make sure that everyone in our community has an equal chance to to get the reward.

Rob – Amulet
Awesome. I thought that was really important to to cover. Because it’s not that we automatically assume you’re up to no good if your account has been blocked. It’s more that we just need this is a really interesting and exciting bounty campaign. So we just want to make sure that everyone earns what they are earning fairly. And so we have processes in charge to make sure that that that is in place. And so that’s all that’s a part of keeping with the AmuNation app. The second question is about new tasks. I will answer it. It’s our new task coming soon. And the answer is yes. I’ve just passed forward the tasks that will be updated. We will be better with this. I guess we We all obviously, you know, we only just launched it, but we’re going to sort out the tasks, I’m going to be in charge of it now. So we’re going to make sure that I will make sure tasks are there every time. So there should be more just to keep you all engagement to keep you continuing as you are. The second and that I’ll move that goes on to the second one, which is will there be large tasks with maybe over 1000 viewpoints? From my side? It really depends. We need to make sure that the rewards are fair for the task that’s given. So if we believe there’s real genuine value in the task, it could be an option. But right now, we are still finalising. Like I said just before, I’m we’ve now got the right process in for dealing with updating the tasks onto the ammunition app. And it’s not a no. It really could be. So yeah. Moving, continuing gone. is how long will the bounty last? There’s no end date yet. So keep doing what you’re doing. Keep logging in daily. It’s unique for you. Just yeah, the best way this type of thing, it’s a daily type of bouncy task. Let’s not think about the end day just it’s one of those where you just got to go on every day to earn the most rewards that you can. Do you have anything that you might want to add there at all, Martin?

Martin/Pinto – Amulet  
Yes, we planning. In short futures, start adding some events and local events on your community groups. As we fully aware, you have a different view using a different language. And then we want to introduce some of the of the opportunities to earn the points from our Discord level as well, then soon we’ll share or share a little bit more information about it. But yes, it will be some opportunities for a little bit large number of points as well, then keep looking on those announcements, they will be soon.

Awesome. Anyone else got anything that wants to to add into that section before I move on to the exciting NFT’s?

Rupert – Amulet  
It might well be covered in the NFT section. But my point is to reiterate, the NFT’s that we are dropping are extremely easily valuable. They may not seem so valuable right this second. But as we grow as a company, as there’s more transactions that get put through these NFT’s are going to be extremely valuable, and we probably won’t drop them again. So that’s why you want to work towards something. That’s why Yeah, we need your support. And you’ll get very, very handsomely rewarded for owning these things in the future.

Awesome. So that I mean, that does kind of cover there. But I will do is go back to you then because the three questions we had about them was, do we know the usability of the NFT’s yet?

Rupert – Amulet  
Yeah, so I mean, the primary usability of the three tiers of NFT, and I’m happy to release this here, it’s not been public knowledge yet is that that you will be getting discounts off the off the value of the insurance protocols now, that in itself, the protocols, but the cover policies that we’ll be selling in the future, that in itself doesn’t sound that exciting, but you’ve got to put it in context. So if you’re buying, let’s say, a policy that costs $100, then yeah, base level NFT, you may get around $5 worth of discount of that. And that’s well worth while, you know, having and and owning up on that. But actually all of that work, all of the effort you put into the AmuNation app, all those points, you got it for $5. It’s really not that impressive. How does it how is it worth a lot more. So this is where the exciting thing of what we’re doing with amulet is that we’re selling on mass we’re selling at scale. So 5% Discount might not be worth a huge amount to you buying policies. But it is worth a huge amount of some of the protocols buying policies, you imagine a protocol coming in and buying a policy that costs them in excess of $5 million, then suddenly your $5 NFT is worth a huge amount more to them than it has been to you in the past. So that’s I encourage you to get them I encourage you to hold on to them and to find the right point and the right customer to Auntie

Rob – Amulet  
awesome. And the there’s another question here and I think it’s good to clear up as well. Is rip those NFT’s do they will they be available? Will we be it will they be available for on say a marketplace such as magic Eden?

Rupert – Amulet  
That’s an undefined just yet. I would say it’s a very high likelihood, we haven’t went to any you can only get these NFT’s by working towards them, or by working with the team in one way or another. So there’s a little bit of feedback on somebody’s microphone.

Okay. And the and so yeah, it’s very likely that we will enable you to trade them on another marketplace, in the, in the future, but it’s not a it’s not your typical NFT you know, create an image and launch it out there. This is very much the utility for our, our platform. And whilst these NFT’s are super cool, they, they look super great. The actual value in them is is about utilising them with our protocol. So, you know, once we do release out onto a onto another marketplace, yes, you were able to, to trade them through the there, but we haven’t made any plans just yet. You guys were the first note as soon as we, we do and we’ll, we’ll pick that up very soon.

Rob – Amulet  
Awesome. Thanks. And not specifically about our NFT’s. But then the final one is a bit more product related. So obviously, we don’t want to use Jimmy’s voice too much. And so it’s more that it’s should be as simple it should be quite simple. It’s are we planning on providing NF T cover for NFT’s that alone all day on multigene?  Would it just be those those hosted on Solana?

Jimmy – Amulet  
That’s essentially a pretty good question. So it will be multi chain for for sure. But we start with Solana. Yeah, more more detail to come. Awesome. But yeah, definitely the the idea is to be able to go multi chain as soon as we can.

Rob – Amulet  
Perfect. Awesome. So we’ll move on to the third section, which is about the test net, which loads of you have been providing incredibly valuable feedback for others. And you’ve been checking out the usability, the functionality, and you’ve been all fantastic. So far with regards to that. The first question is, is that who can participate? Well, a lot of you have and it is open to everyone that’s in the ammunition in our community. So we’ve set up the new channels, we’ve done a blog post, if you need any help, feel free to raise a ticket and the team contact request. And I’ll help you or Martin will help you. And yeah, anyone that wants to have a go on it and use see that see the functionality you can do. It’s a really good opportunity for you to do something so valuable for us as well by by trying to find those errors that we may have missed. So yeah, we appreciate everyone who’s done it so far. And that’s what the second question is, which is have Have people been testing it so far. So I’ll hand that over to you, Shin if that’s okay. Have basically how many users have been have been using test net?

Shin – Amulet  
Right. So from our end, we have like overwhelming requests from from me enthusiasm from all of you. So we have captured like, more than 5000 unique orders and there will be 100 100,000 transactions have been performed on test net. So far. I mean, everything has been working as expected, etc. We are also taking your feedback to do a lot of our UI UX enhancement, to make sure that I mean, your user experience is smooth. And there has to be I mean, the provide enough guidance for you to use the the test net and functionality without friction.

Rob – Amulet  
Awesome. And yeah, I mean, those figures are enormous. So thank you so much to everyone that’s already taken part in if you haven’t do after this AMA. Awesome. So moving on from test net to main net. I’m going to remember but we covered this briefly because we do talk about it a lot. It’s what covers do we plan on launching when we launch main net. The two main ones are smart contract vulnerability and stablecoin DPAC, which we love to talk about. And moving on to other cover options further down the line. Is there anything you wish to add to that at all?

Rupert – Amulet 
Now, the key thing to remember about us versus other protocols out there is that we are built as a couple of protocols to provide a As a base layer like we are here to so that you can build alternative cover products on top of our prior to creating for the feature which session session session. So this is our this is our start, yeah, we’re starting off as market risk. And we’re starting off with stable coins, the pegs, we talked about going into an RTS, we’ve got a lot of work at the moment that we’re doing internally on wallet insurance. And that is a, you know, that’s an area that we really, really want to expand into. And we’re going to expand it to other areas such as game fire, as well does as soon as we have the right product and ability to do so. And if you as a community have ideas about what we should be insuring, or things that would help your life, then we want to hear about them, you know, tell us had direct us, you know, we’re this is a this is a joint effort. So that’s why we’re, you know, we obviously, keen to have the flexibility there.

Rob – Amulet  
And that kind of links into actually what one of the other questions were, which is have we considered covering people against hacks on exchanges? So can we cover users deposits on exchanges?

Rupert – Amulet  
In fact, yeah, custodian risk is something that we’ve looked at quite a lot. It depends on the exchange, it depends on on how they’re looking after the funds. I mean, the the problem with the hacks on exchanges right now, is that they, I mean, ultimately, that essentially, most of the big acts have been centralised, right? So you look at things like, draught I can’t remember the big one over in Canada that went down. But they, the point I’m trying to make is that they came from the inside. And so it’s not necessarily down to the security of their own product, it’s down to the the internal processes that they run. And so some of the exchanges, we won’t, won’t be able to get that to a level of confidence where we’re able to provide insurance. But yeah, that is definitely something that we’d want to do in the future. If, if there’s enough demand.

Rob – Amulet  
Awesome. And another one, which is along the same line, so I’ll stick it and headed straight back at you. And one of our first ever partnerships for people that haven’t been here for too long that we announced was Francium. And one of their users has asked whether they’d be able to cover their assets through a smart contract cover when we launch at the end of when we launch our main net. Profit the boat. So one Francium user has asked whoever because we announced our partnership with them is when we launch whether we’ll be able to provide smart contract cover for them?.

Rupert – Amulet
It look it’s on our roadmap to to work with them. And and that’s why we’re Yeah, we’re partners, you know, that’s ultimately, at the launch day. No, we’re not planning on on providing it for launch. But it’s it’s very, very likely in the future,

Rob – Amulet  
Cool. Awesome. And we’ve only got one more question that I’ve done before I can see if anyone wants to request to speak with a question. And this is going back. No offence. It’s not because we’ve heard too much of your report. But I’m heading this one back to Shin. How are things going? Will we still be launching the main net at the end of this month?

Shin – Amulet  
Yeah, so everything has been going as planned. So thanks for everyone’s effort in helping us to test through this gives us more confident that we are going to launch on time.

Rob – Amulet  
Awesome. Yes. And I’ve still just say, you know, from the marketing perspective, I’m still hoping shin on that it’s all okay there, because a lot of my discussions of all about how we can make massive noise globally. And a bit like what Pinto mentioned at the beginning of the call with regards to different tasks for languages, also how we can promote the strongest languages on here with with specific con content to get them even even more interested even if they can’t speak English. So yeah, no, so that’s awesome, because I’d be finalising a few things. And there’ll be you’ll see over the coming next two weeks, it’s going to be a really mega time for Angular. And there’ll be a lot going on or with the lead up to that. I’d say right now. You guys are doing an incredible job with regards to the tasks on the Bounty with the ammunition app, and especially with regards to the feedback you’re giving us with regards to test net. And I will just open it up now see if anyone in the audience has a question where they actually want to use their voice. We’ve got one here. How do I accept the request? The question is filler filler filler. This is always the time you don’t want technical issues. The question is, When will I Okay, cool. So when will the AmuNation app unban users? So it’s kind of what we’ve already covered? I will mention the other comment. I love your project by the way. So when me’s question is regards to that if you if you feel yours is on wrongly been blocked. We mentioned it was blocked for certain people as issues just to ensure the fairness we have to do an investigation when people are performing very well. If you believe yours is one of those that have been wrongly blocked, just let us know and we’ll work at it ASAP me and just let me well you’ve let me know now.
